FEBRUARY 17, 2020 – Patrick Harris – Editorial Staff
Today we’d like to introduce you to Jean-Mario.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started in 2012 when my business partner Mr. Wassef Kamal (CEO) and I (COO), decided to respond to the anticipated growing need for aerial service in the San Diego area. After some navigating through the FAA’s Guidelines and regulations, we started providing aerial services for both residential and commercial customers spanning from El Cajon to Lake Elsinore.
We had some fair amount of success due to the immediate demands, but the newness of civilian unmanned systems coupled with lack of concrete FAA framework made it difficult within our first two years of operating. Today we’re to say that we are one of the few remaining San Diego based companies that withstood the test of time and continue to serve our beloved communities through aerial service. Our model from the start is to ensure that in all we do, our customers/Partners should feel comfortable and relieved that they have interacted with us. My background in Aviation, coupled with my partner’s in IT software engineering, makes us a great fit to serve our customers within our spectrum and we’re excited to do so. Thank you for the opportunity to have told a bit of our story.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been peeks and valleys for us. Because our industry is still in its infancy stage, we’re tasked with the opportunity to set what may become the standard for operating unmanned systems within our communities’ airspace. And as a company, that means a lot for us to get this right. Thus in part, finding the right pilot to fly for our customers has been challenging.
So we decided to train each hired pilots in our ways in an effort to maintain and exceed the level of safety required to operate within our NAS (National Airspace System). Also, educating our customers and Anti-drone advocates came to prove challenging as well. Most folks, in the beginning, thought that our aerial services would somehow violate their 1st Amendment rights. But patient and the willingness to work with our community allowed for us to get past that.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you guys do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from the competition?
We specialize in providing companies and residential customers with the means to capture data from an aerial perspective that best serves their specific needs.
